We discuss the gift Les shared with the world, his symphonic masterpiece, “Our Nation’s Nature”, on a summer evening at Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park in 2016. Les also shared his love and devotion to Yosemite as well as his favorite swimming holes in the interview. Please join me Sunday March 19, 2017 at 1 pm PDT for the first show on air and streaming live at KAAD-LP 103.5 Sonora, CA.
KAAD-LP will broadcast a recording of “Our Nation’s Nature” performed live at Glacier Point immediately following the show at 2 pm PDT. Please continue listening to enjoy the delightful masterpiece.
On August 21, 2016, the Mariposa Symphony Orchestra made history with a performance at Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park. They performed four large scale symphonic poems titled “Our Nation’s Nature”, composed by the orchestra’s founder and conductor, Les Marsden. Les wrote individual pieces to commemorate four distinct anniversaries in Yosemite National Park from 2014 through 2016. They were performed in a series of concerts throughout Yosemite’s gateway communities. The tour concluded with a concert at Glacier Point celebrating the National Park Service Centennial anniversary in what was described as a show for the ages. Here is a recording of that performance.
