Kevin Jorgeson Yosemite Peaches
Kevin Jorgeson is a well known rock climber who has accomplished many great feats in Yosemite National Park including the first free ascent of the Dawn Wall on El Capitan with his climbing partner Tommy Caldwell. Kevin is from Santa Rosa, California and has been visiting Yosemite Valley since his first attempt at solving the Midnight Lightning boulder problem on his sixteenth birthday. He returned the following year to finally solve it and has never looked back.
In this episode, Kevin recalls his memorable adventures throughout Yosemite from the higher cliffs. He describes sleeping in portaledges as a great chance to start the next day enjoying coffee with a great view. With the wall as a canvas, Kevin also describes similarities between rock climbing and gymnastics. Jorgeson shares more intimate details of the January 2015 Dawn Wall first free ascent along with some of the results that have changed his life forever. He also shares details of the 15th pitch of the Dawn Wall and how it has helped him become a better leader on other projects. Join us for this memorable episode.

The concept for the Yosemite Can O Peaches Radio Podcast was developed over the past several years. Each show will be recorded live from the trails of Yosemite National Park. Host John P. DeGrazio will share stories of how Yosemite influenced the lives of local artists, musicians, photographers, athletes, and a variety of other Yosemite explorers with a tale to tell. The peaches represent the sweet reward of every exploration in nature. Special thanks to Thomas Wilmer for his kind generosity and mentorship. Tom also recorded the Outro for this show.
